Cell-culture Response to Fibroma Virus.

چکیده
Verna, John E. (University of Minnesota, Minneapolis). Cell-culture response to fibroma virus. J. Bacteriol. 89:524-528. 1965.-Three established rabbit cell lines (Minnesota CRP, RbK, and RbH) were infected with Shope's rabbit fibroma virus (Patuxent strain). The responses of the cell lines to virus infection differed from one another. Minn. CRP cells produced plaques (1 to 2 mm) on the 4th or 5th day which possessed characteristic cellular aggregates at the periphery of the plaque. Minn. RbH cells underwent degeneration with the elongation of cells and no aggregation formation. Minn. RbK cells responded with foci of cellular aggregates and no plaque formation. The resulting number of characteristic lesions in each cell line was related to virus dilution. The history of virus passage had no effect on the resulting lesion. All cells appeared to be equally sensitive to fibroma virus infection. Conclusive evidence for a viral-induced proliferative effect in RbK cells has not been found.

Depressed cell-mediated immunity in newborn rabbits bearing fibroma virus-induced tumors.
Tumors were induced in adult and newborn rabbits by inoculation of fibroma virus. Whereas tumors completely regressed in adult rabbits by 3 weeks after virus inoculation, newborn rabbits supported tumor growth for 3 to 4 weeks. In the latter case, some animals died at this time, others survived with a gradual regression of the tumors over an additional period of 5 to 6 weeks. Virus neutralizati...
متن کاملComparison of cytocidal and noncytocidal strains of Shope rabbit fibroma virus.
Seven strains of Shope fibroma virus were compared for their effect on rabbit cells in vitro. All but one of the naturally occurring strains examined in this study produced a similar response in the infected cultures. This consisted of continued cell multiplication together with changes in cell morphology and growth pattern. In contrast, a recently isolated strain of fibroma virus, the M1 strai...

متن کاملOptimization of Microcarrier-based MDCK-SIAT1 Culture System for Influenza Virus Propagation
Introduction: The preparation of seasonal influenza virus vaccines and especially its large-scale production requirement after the emergence or reemergence of a pandemic will need an alternative host cell system due to current suboptimal methods and the insufficiency of embryonated chicken eggs needed for producing them. In response to the vital and increasing demand for alternative means for ...
